About us The South Wales Psychology group is run for anyone
interested in a career in psychology. The SW Psychology group is split into the following two groups: 1)
Affiliates Group The Affiliate Group
meets every 2 months. Affiliates Day’s are open to anyone who is interested
in a career in psychology. Qualified psychologists often come in to give
talks or run workshops. Affiliate Day’s provide a good opportunity to find
out what psychologists get up to in their jobs and to learn more about
different types of therapies and psychology services. It is also a good place
to meet other people interested in a career in psychology, to swap ideas and
find out about job vacancies. Events are organised
by any SW Psychology Group member who volunteers! For a list of upcoming (and
previous) affiliate events click here. 2) Peer Support Group The Peer support group meets
every 6-8 weeks. It is intended to give local assistant psychologists a
chance to meet up in an informal environment. We often ask a member to
present a case study and this helps to facilitate some ‘peer supervision’. We
share information on any job vacancies, discuss how best to run the group and
discuss issues on applying to clinical training courses. One of the most
important aspects of the peer support group is going for a drink afterwards! |
